Ta-da!
I had a few projects on my to-do list this week, so when a snowstorm rolled through and granted me a snow day I got really excited. Unfortunately, when I went to gather up my supplies I could not find my hot glue gun!
Really, what self-respecting crafter is ever without her glue gun!?
Instead of sipping hot chocolate, watching the snow and making delightful glue string and feathery messes, I ran around my house in a fruitless search for the stupid thing. Then I got bored and started watching Downton Abbey. (Alas, I continued to be bored as I watched..)
But today I visited my mom, and I found my trusty glue gun in a pile of my old craft supplies in the basement. This evening I was able to make these pretties..

The color on this is a little off.. imagine the purple slightly redder and the blue slightly greener and you've got it.
Now I want to make an Edwardian-style formal sun hat for my mom, but with simpler embellishments. Perhaps a felt flower or two, some ribbon or organza tied around it..

Things that are gorgeous.
1) This cake. Absolutely adore it. I want it. In my life. Can it be lemon?
2) This lady's photography. Amazing.
Registry!

(Not really related, but I feel like every blog post needs a picture or else it's boring.)
Everyone loves the idea of grabbing a barcode scanner and zapping barcodes of everything in a really expensive store. It sounds cool, but when the subject of a wedding registry comes up I tend to draw a blank.
I cook a lot, so we have a pretty well-equipped kitchen. We don't have a ton of fine china or linen tablecloths, but I'm not sure we want any. Our house is equipped with secondhand, mismatched stuff and I like it that way.
What we don't have is a garage full of tools. So that gave me the idea to investigate creating a registry through Home Depot or something similar.
I found something kind of better..
You use a bookmarklet to grab items from any site online and it will add it to your registry. They even have an app that turns your smartphone into a handy-dandy barcode scanner that you can take anywhere!
I've been playing around with it, and I already added a couple things. If you know me/us personally, you can search using my name. To view it, the password is the name of our pet (in all lowercase letters.. should only take a couple tries to spell it right if you're not sure).
